The fall semester is quickly approaching and students are already beginning to inquire about on (or near to) campus part-time job opportunities.  As part of the Welcome Week celebration, the UMBC Welcome Week Committee and Career Services Center are coordinating a job fair to help new and returning students secure on or near to campus employment.  Last year, more then 600 students attended the fair; we are expecting that many if not more this year. 

We invite you to participate in this exciting event on Monday, August 30, 2010, from Noon – 2:00 pm in the University Center Ballroom.  The fair will offer you the opportunity to recruit employees from our wonderfully diverse and competent pool of students.  Each registered employer will be provided with a 6 foot table (two chairs per table will be provided…let us know if you will need more).

Catonsville’s Sunday Farmers Market offers Relaxed Weekend Shopping In a Community Festival  Setting

If you enjoy Saturdays in the park, you’ve got to try Sundays at the Farmer’s Market. The brand-new Catonsville Farmer’s Market, that is, located at 730 Frederick Road, in the parking lot behind Friendly’s.

Sponsored by the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, the new weekend market celebrates its Grand Opening on Sunday, May 16 and runs, rain or shine, through November 21, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  It will be closed to mark Independence Day on Sunday, July 4.

Our Sunday Farmers Market is supported by the Baltimore County Economic Development Grant Program.

Civil Air Patrol is your community based volunteer organization focused on providing critical emergency services and youth leadership development.  Civil Air Patrol was there when Katrina struck the Gulf Coast and your Civil Air Patrol in Maryland will be there when disaster or a community emergency strikes close to home.  CAP is an all-volunteer service and the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force.

Civil Air Patrol, the official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force, is a benevolent, nonprofit, community based, volunteer organization performing humanitarian services on behalf of the U.S. Air Force. If you're interested in a worthwhile volunteer program for your son, daughter, or yourself Civil Air Patrol may be exactly what you've been looking for! CAP's cadet program has more than 27,000 members, ages 12 to 21, throughout the nation. Parents of cadets credit our program with communicating to their children the importance of personal integrity, accountability, self-discipline and respect for others.

Because CAP includes both cadet and senior members, this can be an outstanding volunteer activity for your whole family. You can work together to serve your local community, learn new skills and share a common commitment to making our nation stronger and more secure. What can your family do in Civil Air Patrol?

As CAP cadets, your children will follow an awards-based, multi-level program that includes leadership and technical training, values clarification, physical fitness and aerospace education. CAP offers national cadet encampments with activities in emergency services, engineering, technology, physical fitness, teambuilding and flight training. You can even visit foreign countries through the International Air Cadet Exchange.

As senior members, adults work alongside the cadets, learning new skills for search and rescue missions, disaster relief, communications, mentoring, crisis management, moral leadership and teamwork. You don?t have to be a pilot or have prior military service to participate in CAP. What you need is a desire to make a difference in your community and to your country as a volunteer with knowledge, experience, and the willingness to serve.

Today, 68 years since its inception, over 58,000 CAP volunteer members-approximately 24,000 youth and 34,000 adults-continue to put general aviation to its best use through service in the Civil Air Patrol. They are dedicated to saving lives, flying counter-drug missions, participating in homeland security efforts, providing disaster relief, advancing young people, and supporting America's educators.
